This is where I live with my family, when ever I am in Bangladesh. This is a really vibrant city, it has grown rapidly over the past few years. It has some extra ordinary historic sentimentals.
The name 'Chowkideki' means 'Vanished before eye'. Reportedly many centuries ago from our fathers, grandfathers, and great grandfather and so on, we know that centuries ago there was a saint who was living there. When he died his body was layed on a wooden bed to wash the deceased body, when they layed him on top of the bed, the people around the body turned away for less than few seconds, when they turned around they couldn't see the body, some how it just vanished in a matter of second. This is how the name 'Chowkideki' started 'vanished before eye'. Altough I haven't saw it personally, there are many people who have said this was the fact and they agree with it. I reserve my own opinions and conclusions. The city is located strategically in the centre position, you can get almost anything from there, if you can't find or get something from there, you only need to travel less than one mile to the main Sylhet city. You have the tea garden surrounding the town, you have a college and a famous park called 'Porjoton Park' only walking distance from the town. You have many other sites you can visit, you want get bored.
