One of the old primary schools that existed in the olden days. Before there was a single primary school on Niue, Matalave was in use taking students from Hikutavake, Namukulu, Tuapa and Makefu. the other villages had other old primary schools that they attended.
After being abandoned, the place was given back to the owners of the land and a bar was established in one of the rooms - known at the time as Vijay's bar, but eventually the business went under and so they set up a shop in another area of the building. At pretty much the same time when it went under a cinema was established in the Northern side building with all features of a cinema...the owners eventually found that the loses were never covered and closed down the business and moved overseas.
The place is now abandoned and not in use.
