Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ) is located at No. 45 on the National Highway from Chennai to Tiruchi, about 5 km from the airport and 25 km from the harbour. MEPZ is a multi-product zone. Products range from rubber products (Horiaki India Group), textiles and leather to electronics and engineering, perfumes and toys.

MEPZ offers exporters developed plots and built-up factory space for low-cost production. Several incentives like concessional and duty free import from the Central and State Government, provide the opportunity to produce at reasonable costs.

Export Processing Zones are given special concessions which separate them from the Domestic Tariff Area (DTA). The exporting firms within the EPZs jurisdiction have an advantage in the international markets since they are able to produce at lower costs. Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ), is set up by the Indian Government, Located in Chennai. MEPZ is headed by the Development Commissioner.
